Rapid urbanization often creates pockets of poverty in cities, where thousands of families live in densely populated areas without adequate access to clean water and proper sanitation. This situation is a major risk factor for various environment-related diseases.
YPCII presents an innovative, community-based approach to address this issue. The Urban Clean Water Service program includes construction of community-scale water treatment plants, subsidized household connections, community-based public toilets, and simple wastewater management systems.
We collaborate with city governments, regional water utilities (PDAM), and the private sector to ensure the program integrates with existing systems, is cost-efficient, and can be replicated in other regions. Communities are positioned not only as beneficiaries, but as active partners in planning and managing services.
The success of this program is measured not only by the number of connections installed, but by how effectively it transforms community sanitation behavior positively and sustainably.
