MIMIKA Sehat Phase II is a continuation of the MIMIKA Sehat Phase I program, which was implemented from October 2008 to December 2011. During the first phase, the program focused on improving community behavior related to reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, newborn care, parenting practices, hygiene and sanitation, access to clean water, and the strengthening of basic healthcare services. In its second phase, the program shifted its focus toward improving community access to quality, sustainable, and accessible healthcare services.
Implemented since March 2012, the program aims to improve the overall health status of communities, particularly children under five and women of reproductive age in the Mimika Regency area. The program emphasizes strengthening healthcare services through Community Health Centers (Puskesmas) and their service networks, including sub-health centers, village midwives, mobile healthcare services, and Community-Based Health Efforts (UKBM). The initiative also supports the improvement of promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative healthcare services across the intervention areas.
MIMIKA Sehat Phase II is a collaborative initiative between the Mimika Regency Government, the Amungme and Kamoro Community Development Institute (LPMAK), and Yayasan Pembangunan Citra Insan Indonesia (YPCII). The program is funded by LPMAK through an official partnership agreement with YPCII to strengthen community healthcare development in the Mimika region.
The program intervention areas cover several districts and villages within Mimika Regency, including Agimuga, West Mimika, Amar, Far East Mimika, Tembagapura, and Central Mimika. Program implementation applies a community-based approach by strengthening cross-sector coordination, enhancing the capacity of healthcare workers, developing monitoring and supervision systems, and building partnerships between local governments, healthcare institutions, and local communities.
As part of its implementation strategy, MIMIKA Sehat Phase II also applies several integrated approaches, including the revitalization of Community-Based Health Efforts (UKBM), Community-Based Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (MTBS-BM), Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM), and Birth Preparedness and Complication Prevention (P4K) programs. Through these initiatives, the program aims to improve community quality of life while strengthening the sustainability of healthcare services throughout Mimika Regency.
